Talked about the possibility of having a member dues, with a benefit of getting SPS membership included.
Jack talked to Dr. Polo and he suggested that we start doing projects to get peoples attention
Go through the physics magazines and organize the various projects in binders
Eye catching displays
Journal reading to broaden our knowledge
Some of the Journal topics were: LEDs, Muon Detectors, Nanotechnology, Optics, PEPC K
Pick one of these topics and read and article on the topic, we would like to have presentations on what the article said.
We will also start working on the Muon Detector

Jason S. researched hydrogen-powered cars
Jonathan S. researched LEDs
Jason Hanmore researched a space elevator to make it easier and cheaper to get into outer space
Jack researched Muons and its lifetime and some applications

New Business:
Jason Hanmore went to the SGA meeting yesterday
We need 20 hours of community Service to stay active
Some possibilities are
We could participate individually in a blood drive
Or there is a coin collection for the hurricane victims
Some possible trips we could take:
Penn State Behrend has a science fair
Glenn Research Center
Cornell University to see particle accelerator
We will continue the research topics next week.

No one was able to donate blood at the blood drive yesterday
Jack will talk to SGA about the coin collection
New Business:
Fund Raiser: The possibility of buying variety packs of juice and selling in the physics reading room for $0.50 was brought up.
We will try to find information about the Physics science fair at Penn State Behrend.

Project for the fall
Pumpkin Chunking contest located in Mayville, NY in early November. We would like to build a trebuchet as the physics club. However the date is coming quickly so any additional input is appreciated.
